Some Handy Tips to Help Your Team Raise at Least $300.00Contact your Friends and Family
- Friends and families are a great place to start. Mom, Dad, little bro, big sis, Grandma Betty, Uncle Joe, your best friend Sal, your bus monitor from middle school--and the list goes on--would all love to support your efforts to raise money for the Dance Marathon.
- Not quite sure how to ask your loved ones for money? No problem. Email or send your family and friends this letter, which explains the mission of our event, as well as the goals of the Children's Trust Fund.
- If a family member or friend has a birthday coming up, you can say that a generous donation has been made in their name to your team for the Tufts University Dance Marathon that is helping children across MA through CTF initiatives.
Ask friends for small donations or put cans out in your dorm!
- Find a time like Hall Snacks when a lot of people are hanging around your dorm. Go door to door and explain to your friends that you're on a team that is going to participate in Tufts' Dance Marathon and is trying to raise money to support the Children's Trust Fund. Even if they give $5, that's great! Every little bit counts!
- Label a can with a short explanation of the cause and event. Put this out in your common room so people will always be reminded!
Talk to Local Businesses!
- Next time the Joey takes you into Davis or you head into Boston, stop and talk to businesses. If you can, ask to speak to a manager.

- You go to Tufts! If businesses are popular with Tufts students, their ears will perk up.
- You're trying to raise money for a great, local cause. The Children's Trust Fund has divisions throughout all of Massachusetts, including Boston, Medford, and Somerville.
- For more incentive, suggest having the business' name as part of your own team name.

Strongly Recommended:When you contact businesses to ask for money, give the managers this letter that explains the Tufts Dance Marathon Mission. Also, because of distance, if you can't to talk to people face to face, send this letter to stores and companies!
Table at Dewick-MacPhie, Carmichael or the Campus Center!
- If you've formed a team from a student organization you're a part of, contact facilities and set up a table during lunch or dinner time. Make a poster, advertise, and ask people to donate money to support your team and the Dance Marathon!
Go door to door in the neighborhoods around Tufts.
- People in the area would love to be involved in Tufts events and would be thrilled to know the donation will is going to a local cause.
Make a Facebook Group
- E-mail everyone you know explaining your team needs support!
Be Creative!
- Think of a creative or fun fundraiser:
- Bake sales
- Candy grams or flower deliveries during Valentine's Day, Gift wrap during the holiday season
- Host a benefit dinner
- Host a performance by a group on campus. Proceeds can support your team.
- Throw a Dance Marathon party; tell everyone who comes to donate a few bucks.
